Infants with PBPI are limited to either Passive Range of Motion Therapy (PROM) or Microsurgery. Microsurgery is relatively costly as well as not available to all infants, but allows for recruitment of new muscles. PROM does not actively recruit muscles, but is relatively inexpensive. NeuRewards offers a cost effective method of recruiting new muscles.

Literature research shows that there are a variety of positive reinforcement medical devices for infants. These devices are not necessarily competitors, but rather show that positive reinforcement is a viable method for infant physical therapy.
